LIPOSUCTION
STANDARD OF CARE

BEFORE & AFTER

WHAT IS TUMESCENT LIPOSUCTION?

Tumescent Liposuction involves the use of large volumes of local anesthesia containing lidocaine to numb the area, adrenaline to constrict the blood vessels, and sodium bicarb in a saline solution to cause tumescence of the tissues.

Long-lasting, complete anesthesia is achieved that protects the overlying skin from irregularities. During the suction that follows, a thin, long, blunt cannula is guided throughout the adipose layer removing actual fat cells.

The procedure usually takes 1 to 1½ hours, depending on areas treated. The results are seen within days and improve with time. A compression garment is worn for a few weeks to decrease swelling and bruising and to increase skin contraction and comfort. If there is subsequent weight gain, final expectations will need to be lowered.

WHAT IS SafeLipo?

In SafeLipo, only tumescent local anesthesia is used thus avoiding the risks, side effects and added expense of general anesthesia or intravenous sedation.

The patient is awake during this gentle procedure. No fasting is required, no stitches are used, incisions are almost invisible, and time in recovery is usually about 10 minutes. Patients can shower the next day and return to work. After a week, most can resume normal activities.

Usually only one treatment per body area is necessary. The results are permanent and natural looking.
